1. Share Deep Down with Your Community
Purchase a copy of Deep Down and bring the conversation about mountaintop removal and our nation's energy future to your family, community, school, or faith group. We've hosted over a hundred screenings across the country and have found that community film screenings are a great way to educate, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and catalyze people to become engaged with the issue. To help you make the most out of your screening, weve designed a variety of tools for you to use. Download one of our screening guides to help get you started. We have also developed an online game in Second Life called the Virtual Mine for educators. Learn more about this innovative educational tool here.

2. Support the Grassroots Movement in Appalachia
In community centers, churches and homes across the Appalachian region, neighbors are successfully organizing to stop the worst abuses of the coal industry and create a sustainable future with the help of grassroots groups like Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, featured in the film. One of the most direct ways to support community leaders like Beverly May is to give a donation and become a member of KFTC. You can learn about all of the grassroots groups working on mountaintop removal and other coal issues by visiting the Alliance for Appalachia, a collaboration between grassroots organizations in the coalfield regions of Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee.

3. Stay Connected to the Solutions
We are all connected to mountaintop removal coal mining. Whether we get our electricity from burning coal from a mountaintop removal site, breathe in polluted air from a coal burning power plant, are exposed to contaminated water washing downstream from coal processing areas, or are concerned about our climate future, what happens in Appalachian communities eventually makes its way to our doorstep. And just like the community members featured in Deep Down, we have a choice to make about our collective climate future.

Stay connected to coal and climate actions and solutions by joining with national groups the Natural Resources Defense Council,Rainforest Action Network, and Sierra Club to stay up-to-date on EPA rulings, national and sate legislative action, and corporate campaigns aimed at ending mountaintop removal and transitioning to a clean and healthy energy future beyond coal.
